This year's Gathering will bridge the past and the future. One of our goals this year is to create networks that span the bioregion to be vital parts for planning a more expansive Gathering next year.
The Gathering is one of the most hopeful and relevent events in our region.
It is two and a half days of learning skills, connecting with kindred spirits, having fun and building New Culture.
The setting is Dharmalaya Center, a wonderful place for social change. The 3/4-acre site is part way through an ambitious permaculture site plan with a small pond, grey water system, beautiful straw bale structure, solar bath house, gardens and much more.
Within blocks are 3 other permaculture conversion projects. Two just beginning and another in "midlife", started 6 years ago. Tours will be made to these places and other conversion sites within a 10 minute bike ride.
The Gathering includes plenary sessions, panels, presentations, workshops. There is great vegetarian food, kid program, positive vibrations!
When: August 25-27, 2006
Where: Dharmalaya Center, in Eugene's River Road Neighborhood, 3 miles NW of downtown. (directions here)
What: Click here for schedule of events & workshops
How much: $50 for programs and meals; sleeping accommodations available for $10 (see below)
This is a wonderful and exciting development by way of this year's Gathering. A number of small town and rural culture change advocates will convene at the Gathering to compare notes and build a regional network to help mentor each other and new members to the network. E mail Pam for more info at pam-hewitt@earthlink.net.
Jan Spencer of the Organizing Guild will be on the Jefferson Exchange radio program Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 9 a.m. Much of the region is in the Jefferson Public Radio network. To find a station near you, click here. Please call in at 1-800-838-3760. Support Jeff Exchange hosting speakers talking about Ecological Culture Change. E-mail them at exchange@jeffnet.org to say we want more guests to talk about Culture Change.
