Sunnyjohn.com Videos Now available for viewing

Filed under: Announcements, From individuals — mrhobbit @ 11:55 am

This is a shout out to the folks who attended the Cascadia Ecofair. I was speaking there on Appropriate Technology … and showed a number of videos I mistakenly said were online to view if you couldn’t see them at the event. Sorry to lead you down a garden path… fortunately the google gods at YouTube are now cooperating.

I have since been online while touring Lost Valley and managed to get them all uploaded for you as promised. All the links to the videos are now available at Sunnjohn.com. Enjoy… and don’t forget to rate them. The more folks that do, the more folks will want to watch and spread the good news of Permaculture…

Cosponsored by Lost Valley Nature Center and NextGEN (the youth branch of the Global Ecovillage Network), this event will focus on fall ecology, indigenous tradition, and the harvest season here in the western Cascade foothills. We’ll explore what is happening on the land at this time of year, and how we humans can harvest the bounty from our gardens, farms, orchards, and from the wild. We’ll learn about the ways of the Kalapuya who preceded us here, as well as sustainable food growing and preservation, resource stewardship, ecological restoration, and traditional seasonal celebrations. We’ll bring together people ages 12 through 112 to explore how we can learn from one another and pass ecological wisdom and insights back and forth between generations. We’ll also learn about school gardens, mushrooms, lichens, and mosses, building community, ecovillages, and more.

Presenters:
• Esther Stutzman (Kalapuyan storyteller)
• Bill Burwell (Kalapuya researcher)
• Jude Hobbs (Permaculture teacher and designer, Agroecology Northwest)
• Jerry Hall (ethnobotanist, Lane Community College)
• Jen Anonia (Food for Lane County Gardens Program Manager)

Kitchen Coordinator Position Open

Filed under: miscellany — wellsprings @ 12:18 pm

We are looking to hire a part time Kitchen Coordinator for our small alternative high school. Hours are Monday-Friday 11:00-2:00 (or something close to that), $10 per hour. Duties include cleaning up morning mess, setting up for lunch, picking up and serving lunch (it is prepared at Churchill High School), cleaning up lunch, shopping occasionally for breakfast items and class projects, logging temperatures and lunch counts, and for general kitchen upkeep. We are a fun place to work, but it is 60 high school students and teachers, so patience is a good thing! A food handlers card is required (but can test after hired) and transportation for food pick up is necessary. (car or bike with trailer will work). Please email Yancey at info@wellspringsfriends.org if you are interested. Thanks! Work starts on September 5!
