Sunday Tea and Conversation

  I am sponsoring a monthly Coffee and Tea get-together ( the first one was in January) and it will be held in my home on February 8th,this next Sunday, join us between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00pm.
  This get-together is for all that are interested in gardening, landscaping or permaculture, come visit, network and talk to people interested in some of the same things you are, trade ideas, plants and seeds.

Bring a dish to share and come thank the farmers fostering
the viability and sustainability of our local food system.
 
There will be: An old-time string band, Ice Cream, and on-site Massage (just for farmers).

River Road Rocks

The River Road Community Organization [RRCO] will host River Road Rocks!!
When : Saturday, February 7   1 PM to 5 PM   Free
Where :  1400 Lake Drive, River Road Park District Recreation Center in Emerald Park
What:  River Road Rocks will be the third  annual winter time neighborhood celebration for River Road.  The purpose is to have fun, learn about important neighborhood issues, and build community.

There will be a dozen  community organizations with information tables.  The Civic Engagement Table, Red Cross, EWEB, Climate Masters, Heron Pond Restoration, Permaculture, Walama Restoration, Master Gardeners, River Road/Santa Clara Volunteer Library,  North Eugene High School Health Clinic, Trinity Methodist Church, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Victory Gardens,,, 
There will be supervised child care and a kids play space, with activities led by the Learning Palace!
The North Eugene High School Student Business - Northside Catering will sell sandwiches, soups, appetizers, coffee and tea as a fund raiser.  Word is, they are good!
We also expect a Eugene Fire Department fire truck, the Red Cross Emergency Vehicle and a flock of friendly hens!
There will be city of Eugene staff to explain land use and water quality issues including the Lower River Road Mixed Use Study Area.
RRR will feature two Community Conversations: 
At 1:30 - Meeting With Elected officials and City Staff. An interactive forum with the city staff members, County Commissioners and state representatives.  The topics will include local land use issues and the River Road Park District.  Spirited dialogues are expected.  Please bring your ideas and questions.
At 3:15 - Creating Livability in the Neighborhood. We will learn about Neighborhood Watch with Margaret Mazotta of the EPD, Emergency Preparedness with Geoff Simmons, instructor - the Community Emergency Response Team [CERT] Program and Suburban Property Conversion/Permaculture with Jan Spencer.
On their own, these are all valuable programs offering important skills and know how for creating neighborhood livability. But combining them can take all three to a much higher level -  we will find out how all three can amplify the benefits of the others.  There is an exciting multiplying effect that is timely and deserves attention.
