February Ecovillage Design Education and Permaculture Program

Our first courses of the year, starting February 8, 2010 will be a 2 week Permacultrue Design Course, and a one month Ecovillage Design Education course called the EDE. If you take the EDE you receive both a Permaculture Design Certificate and an Ecovillage Design certificate. This is a one time special dual package to kick off the new year. 2010 Permcaulture and Community Courses at Lost Valley

The Camassia 2010 Programs are now enrolling!

The Camassia Institute at Lost Valley empowers you to live and learn more sustainably, through courses in permaculture, sustainable design and community organization. These courses are designed for those with an academic, professional or personal interest in sustainable living and design. Students will stay at the Lost Valley ecovillage located in Dexter Oregon, where you will be not only students but part of our community and aspiring ecovillage, learning and living right alongside our community residents.  Because we realize that you have unique interests and life circumstances, we offer Week-long, month-long and seasonal programs, for scheduling and financial flexibility.

One Week Programs:
Sustainability Seminar:  This one week ‘crash course’ in sustainability will give you an overview of green building,

Ecobuild Modules: you can take a week-long module and participate in the construction of a single ecobuilding demonstration project

Woody Plant Propagation @ Lost Valley 1/23/10

LVEC’s Rick Valley will lead this two day workshop at Lost Valley’s beautiful site. Propagating plants is an inexpensive and easy way Plant propagation, woody plants, stem cuttings, organic gardening, sustainable gardeningto get new plants from plants you or your neighbor already have.

Propagation by stem cuttings is the most commonly used method to propagate many woody plants.

This asexual means of reproduction produces a plant that is genetically identical to its parent.

There are a variety of plant propagation methods; from taking cuttings to layering to dividing and more. The technique you select will depend on the type of plant you wish to propagate and the amount of time and effort you want to put into it.

Lost Valley Land Steward, Rick Valley, will lead this hands-on workshop.  Attend for one day or two.  Overnight accommodations available for those in need.  Please contact our housing department for information on lodging at 541 937-3351 x 126

Bring a dish to share for lunch.  In the event of snow, the workshop will be rescheduled for February 13-14, 2010.
